Cornell International Affairs Society (CIAS)

The Cornell International Affairs Society (CIAS) provides a place for undergraduate students to develop their passion for global engagement.

CIAS offers students from all backgrounds the chance to develop public speaking skills, practice diplomacy, and build confidence within a supportive community. During our weekly general body meetings, we enjoy the vast array of perspectives and opinions held by our members as we discuss current international issues and their potential impact. We are also very engaged in the collegiate Model United Nations circuit, sending delegations to local, regional, and international conferences each semester. CIAS proudly hosts two annual Model UN conferences as well, including Cornell International Affairs Conference (CIAC), a rapidly growing collegiate conference, and the Cornell Model United Nations Conference (CMUNC), one of the largest high school conferences in the Northeast, which draws over seven hundred delegates and advisers from around the world. In addition to our Model UN activities, we also engage in philanthropy, holding fundraisers at local restaurants and businesses. From participating in and hosting Model United Nations conferences to raising money for those in need, these activities help us form a community based on a common passion for international engagement.
