ILO: Fast Fashion and the Future of Global Garments
This committee accommodates a maximum of 40 delegates.
Chair: TBA
Vice Chair: TBA
The fast fashion industry has transformed clothing into one of the world's most disposable commodities, fueling unprecedented consumer demand all while accelerating labor exploitation and environmental degradation. From garment factory collapses in Bangladesh to textile waste overwhelming landfills across the Global South, the consequences of these rapid production cycles are a challenge this committee needs to address immediately.
In this ILO committee, delegates will have to confront the crises of workers rights, climate sustainability, international trade, and corporate accountability within the fashion industry. In this special session of the International Labour Organization, delegates representing governments, multinational corporations, labor unions, and industry stakeholders will confront the future of global garment production. As global demand for cheap clothing continues to rise, ILO delegates must determine how international cooperation can reform the fashion industry, or whether the pursuit of profit will continue to unravel environmental and worker protections globally.
