Cornell International Affairs Conference (CIAC X)
Welcome to the ninth session of the Cornell International Affairs Conference, also known as CIAC X. CIAC (pronounced similarly to 'kayak') is the annual collegiate Model United Nations conference hosted by the Cornell International Affairs Society,
This year, we have continued to grow our conference while maintaining a welcoming environment for delegates of all experience levels. We aim to create an unforgettable Model UN experience that challenges delegates to find creative solutions to complex problems. Through intense crisis committees and creative collaboration, delegates have the opportunity to resolve key global issues during their weekend in Ithaca. Both inside and outside committee, delegates will create lasting friendships with other students that share a passion for international affairs and diplomacy.
The Wonderful Secretariat of CIAC X!
The Secretariat of CIAC spend god-knows-how-much time and countless sleepless nights planning and worrying about making CIAC as great as it can be. So here's a part of a webpage for them.
Ria Singh is a senior in the College of Engineering studying Electrical and Computer Engineering. Originally from Edison, New Jersey, Ria has been doing Model UN since her freshman year of high school and loved it so much that she decided to continue in college, despite it having nothing at all to do with her major. In what spare time she has, Ria can be found enjoying the great outdoors, playing soccer, doing art, eating ice cream and drinking almost any form of caffeine. She’s super excited to join the rest of the CIAC X Secretariat in making this year’s CIAC the best it has ever been!
Nick Hansen is a senior in the College of Arts and Sciences majoring in economics and mathematics. Originally from Wisconsin, Nick has been involved in Model UN since his sophomore year in high-school, and is incredibly excited for CIAC X! Outside of MUN, he is involved in Phi Sigma Pi, and conducts economic researches. In his free time, Nick is normally seen either completing jigsaw puzzles or wasting far too much time on Netflix and YouTube.

He’s lived in New Canaan, Connecticut his entire life and studied at the London School of Economics during his junior year. He has been actively involved in Model UN since his freshman year of high school and is excited to be a member of the secretariat for CIAC X. Outside of CIAS, Ethan is a member of the Mutual Investment Club of Cornell and the Cornell Hedge Fund. He loves hiking and camping, and in his free time, Ethan can often be found passionately viewing dog videos, eating, or traveling. Get wild for CIAC X!

Hailing from sunny Port Charlotte, Florida, she has been dedicated to Model UN since her first committee session in her freshman year of high school. She is a member of Cornell's varsity Polo team, Cornell Political Union and Alpha Xi Delta. With her sparse free time she can be found hanging out with friends and playing Magic The Gathering or Dungeons and Dragons. Alexis is enthralled to join the rest of the CIAC X Secretariat in making CIAC X-trodinary!
Ben is a Junior in the College of Engineering at Cornell. Since joining his Highschool MUN club on a whim, he has devoted countless hours to crisis committees, team development and conference organizing over his 7 year career. He has also served as a Chair and Crisis director in Cornell's Highschool and College conferences. When not in the library toiling over problem sets you can find him skiing, at Cornell hockey games and making movies. He is so excited to be a member of this year's CIAC Secretariat and can't wait to see you all this November.
Maryam is a junior in the college of agriculture and life sciences. Since high school, she’s been involved in model UN or debate in some form or another! He has been involved in Model UN since high school where he was the president of his school's club. Youhan is a junior in the College of Arts and Science. MUN joined his life since his first year in high school back to China. It's the first time for Youhan to serve as a secretary member. Majoring in Computer Science and Government, Youhan is on the brink of Seg fault on acquiring realism and its implication on the U.S. foreign policy during the Cold War. While studying, he enjoys playing computer games and doing something for CIAC. While not studying, he enjoys playing computer games and doing something for CIAC, too! He likes to make mistakes unfortunately. Last time, he forgot to add Jacob’s information to secretary information page :( Youhan’s really sorry for this and is still regretting. During breaks, Youhan loves to go scuba diving trips to somewhere warmer than Ithaca. He also loves memes.
Karolina is a senior studying Economics and Government. She has been doing MUN since high school and she loves learning more about current events and debating possible resolutions. She is super pumped for CIAC! She is excited to see where the delegates will take their topics.
